Sacramental Retreat 2025
Today was the annual Sacramental Program retreat, held at the time-honoured St. Francis Retreat Center. Over 50 of our sacramental candidates on their journey of faith drew closer to God, supported by Fr. Mark and a team of 20 senior Catholic Character Leaders.
This retreat not only allowed our students to bond closer to one another as Rosminians, but introduced who Jesus was and how we might follow in his footsteps. Although important for their confirmations later in the year, we want them to take away the ideas from today into their lives of faith, past the sacraments.
An important question of the retreat was ‘Who is Jesus to you?’ Interviewing the boys, we had answers like ‘my savior,’ ‘a second father,’ a ‘mentor and teacher,’ ‘Lord,’ and my ‘friend.’ Many commented on how they wished to be more like Him.
Fr. Mark’s contributions cannot be understated. He consistently talks to the students, making Catholic ideas more relevant to them as a newer generation. He also facilitated captivating in-depth group discussions. We are very proud to have him as our chaplain.
Supporting Fr. Mark, the Catholic Character team felt privileged to guide the students. Rafael Austria (Leader) says, ‘I feel like the boys had a fulfilling time. This was a great leadership opportunity for myself and the rest of the team to step forward and live out our Catholic values.’
We are confident the boys took a lot with them and will continue to grow in their faith. Special thanks also to Ms. van Wyk (Director of Religious Studies) and Ms. Dias for their organisation.
[Jesus] asked them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Mark 8:29.
