Accomplished musician visits Rosmini
Thanks to the NZ Music Commission, we were privileged to have Laughton Kora visit for two days last week and mentor our Year 9 - 13 music classes. Laughton is a successful New Zealand musician who has been performing since he was 6 years old and has founded the bands ‘Kora’, ‘The Heavy Metal Ninjas’ and played and performed with many others.
Laughton talked to the classes about being in the music industry and how the students could write and produce their own music. He also encouraged the students to form bands and play concerts as that is one way to develop as musicians.
On the second day he led rehearsal workshops with the Year 11 and Year 13 classes and even played the guitar with one band.
The students found Laughton to be interactive, interesting to listen to and inspiring.
