Filo Night has grown into an annual highlight of our school calendar, celebrating and sharing Filipino culture here in Aotearoa New Zealand

First launched in 2021 as a student-led passion project between Rosmini College and Carmel College, Filo Night has grown into an annual highlight of our school calendar, celebrating and sharing Filipino culture right here in Aotearoa New Zealand.

This year’s celebration centered on a unique theme: “Early Pasko” (Christmas). As Carmel student leader Eliza Arsena aptly noted, early festive preparations capture "the Filipino spirit of giving, sharing, and community." 

The event's reach continues to expand across our wider community, featuring vibrant contributions from students at Carmel, St Mary’s, St Joseph’s, and Rangitoto College. 

Filo Night was once again a resounding success, playing to a sold-out crowd of over 600 attendees and raising $3,500 for an agricultural school in the North Island of the Philippines. Guests were immersed in traditional music and high-energy dance performances, and they enjoyed authentic Filipino cuisine, with food stall queues stretching across the entire carpark!

While rooted in Filipino traditions, Filo Night is an inclusive event for all students across the College. Everyone is invited to attend future events, experience the rich culture, and become a part of this vibrant brotherhood and community.
