Engaging with Global Educators at IBSC
Rachel Peak and Siân Waite actively participated in the International Boys' Schools Coalition Conference, in Boston, Massachusetts. This annual event serves as an important platform for educators in boys' schools to share insights and explore current trends in boys' education.
Held at the prestigious Belmont Hill School in Boston, the conference theme was 'Better Together'. Some of the guest speakers included the Presidents of Harvard University, Northeastern University and Williams College, General Mark Milley and Gus Worland. Each of these spoke about various topics, but all had the same core message: we must look after our boys balancing mental health and mental fitness along with academics and co-curricular activities.
A key part of Rachel and Siân's involvement was co-presenting a workshop. This session highlighted professional learning approaches and educational strategies developed within our school. Their presentation was well-received, contributing to the dialogue among conference attendees.
Furthermore, Rachel led a second workshop about building connection and collaboration, providing an overview of three innovative and collaborative programmes from our school: TOTCUS, the Rosmini Volunteer Army, and One Foot in the Clouds.
Despite a jam-packed conference schedule, they were able to squeeze in a visit to the iconic Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, and walk part of the historic Freedom Trail and see parts of Harvard University. They also attended the conference dinner set in the Museum of Fine Arts showcasing Van Gogh's collection of paintings entitled 'The Roulin Family Portraits'.
