Camp at Motutapu Island 2025

What an incredible week it was on Motutapu Island for our Year 8 Camp! With 178 students, 21 parents, and 10 teachers, this truly was a testament to the goodwill and support within our wider Rosmini College community. Our goal was to provide our young men with an opportunity to grow through personal challenges, teamwork, and the guiding principles of faith and values – and by all accounts, we succeeded beyond measure!
Adventures and Achievements
From the moment we arrived, it was clear this camp would be an experience of a lifetime. The boys embraced every opportunity, 12 activities, two tramps and night games, and and the unique experience of sleeping in an army barracks with 45 others. Each day was packed with around six hours of activities, all designed with learning in mind. From the thrill of the high ropes to the quiet anticipation of kiwi spotting, every boy found their own favourite aspect, fostering personal responsibility and preparation.
“I loved snorkeling. There were heaps of fish. I have never been in the water with so many fish”. - Sebastian Wood 8HSK
“Archery was great, I used a compound bow which was powerful. The food should be mentioned. Every meal was exceptional, and we were hungry”. - Oscar Hou 8LCR
“Camp was remote, grassy with lots of nature. It was enjoyment and celebration of activities and meals. Day after day of trying new things…so much fun!” - Paulo Bisteni 8ESJ
A Community United
The success of this camp was truly a collective effort, and we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone involved. Our camp parents were nothing short of heroic. Waking to the cheerful music provided by Mrs. Boyle, our "Camp Mother," at 5:30am in the morning. Parents tirelessly led 12 activity groups, provided essential medical care, and even helped prepare all meals. Their combined expertise, love, and unwavering support were the backbone of our camp's smooth operation.
Equally deserving of immense appreciation are our dedicated teachers. Their vision in planning this monumental event, leading seven activities, orchestrating night games, and providing 24-hour supervision for the entire week was an extraordinary act of love and service.
Faith and Fellowship
We carried our faith with us throughout the week. Prayers from our Year 13 boys before we left set a beautiful tone, and each day began with a moment of reflection. On the final night, we took time to sincerely appreciate God's touch in everything. From the glorious weather and breathtaking sunsets to the native birds and, most importantly, the special adults who made this entire experience possible.
Dear Rosmini Community, our Year 8 cohort of students, parents, and teachers are profoundly grateful for this incredible experience and opportunity. We are thankful for everyone’s contribution, big and small. How good it is to be a part of Rosmini!
